Providing a Quotation
The system must be able to provide a Customer with a Quotation for the Delivery of their Consignment
This is calculated by using a number of factors ….
A Quotation is made up from:
- The base price of mileage from Pickup Location to Destination
- The Discount Rates that a Customer may have negotiated on their Contract
- The Delivery Window required
- The Consignment details
- Requirements for a BookIn Facility
- Requirements for a TailLift and Unload Facility
- Any further Special Requirements
A Quotation can have a Confirmed Price or a Provisional Price
- A Confirmed Price is guaranteed to be accurate at the point it is issued, and is valid for a short period of time. This is the most common outcome of a Quotation Request
- A Provisional Price is accurate, but may depend on some of the information provided. This scenario is likely to occur when aspects of the Quotation Request do not appear to match each other, or for example when certain options are requested for certain locations. The system will allow Booking a Delivery against a Provisional Price, but the price is subject to review by a client account manager, and may be altered, and re-confirmed with the Customer prior to Pickup Confirmation
It is also possible that the system cannot provide a Quotation, either Confirmed or Provisional. This would occur when human interaction is required, for example shipping to or from a particular location, or with particular requirements. In this case the system should request a Callback for the Customer from one of the customer service representatives.
